BLT – Better Living for Texans

Better Living for Texans

Better Living for TexansTexas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Better Living for Texans (BLT) program offers a variety of research-based, nutrition education programs and information to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants and program eligible persons in over 200 counties in the State of Texas. The aim is to help to low-income Texans of all ages increase their fruit and vegetable consumption, become more physically active, stretch their monthly food dollars, and learn to prepare quick, nutritious meals.

Family-friendly Health & Nutrition Focused Education

BLT works with SNAP participants and program eligible persons to help them learn how to create healthy, tasty meals for their families in a relaxed setting. Participants have the opportunity to interact with peers and share life experiences while learning about a variety of helpful topics that are all designed to strengthen families and communities. BLT programs can help participants meet some of the daily challenges many face, such as balancing busy schedules with the need to provide nutritious meals for the family, saving money at the grocery store, growing their own foods (gardening), and staying physically active.

A Statewide Presence

The BLT State Office is located in College Station and we have six field offices located strategically across the state in Corpus Christi, Dallas, Lubbock, San Angelo, Vernon, and Weslaco to meet the needs of our participants.
